“UN VIAJE CORAL” – Book. New Purchase Website

“UN VIAJE CORAL, del unísono al canto a voces en el coro infantil”

is now available for purchase in digital format on the website of the Asociación Kodály Argentina.

Authors: Mariana Pechuan, Jorge Fuentes, and Bernardo Latini.

This publication arises from the pressing need to create a pedagogical-musical resource with a playful character that invites sequential learning for children’s choirs. Through a solid theoretical foundation, Mariana Pechuan and Jorge Fuentes lay out an itinerary that guides the director in managing the vocal, aural, and motor challenges inherent to children’s choral activity, taking into account aspects of children’s psychology and emotional development according to their age and vocal range. The work breaks down the necessary processes for choristers to achieve vocal independence, transforming the transition from unison to polyphony into an organic, documented, and deeply human process.

The practical core of this “journey” is materialized in 8 original compositions by Bernardo Latini, created ad hoc on texts by Juan Augusto Laplacette. These pieces, ranging from unison to 4 equal voices a cappella, constitute a sequenced cycle that translates the methodology into real music. As conductor Virginia Bono rightly points out in the prologue, the book is comprehensive because it does not limit itself to explaining the methodological thinking, but rather demonstrates it through a repertoire that allows for the progressive development, understanding, and assimilation of musical competencies.

The illustrations by Sofía Rojas bring to life the path charted by the authors, with a map designed to keep in sight all the regions, stages, and stops that the choral journey allows one to discover.

About the Misa Mestiza Homenaje

Music by Hugo Figueras, Bernardo Latini, and Oscar Allorio

The Misa Mestiza was born in 2014 to celebrate the election of the first Latin American Pope. It was originally conceived for the youth orchestras of the Programa Provincial de Orquestas-Escuela—now Programa de Coros y Orquestas—of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was later adapted for professional ensembles.

The work reflects the richness and cultural synthesis that characterize Latin America. It is a symphonic-choral creation that brings together the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church—in Greek and Spanish—the sonorities of the European Middle Ages and Classicism, alongside the Indigenous, Creole, and Afro-American musical traditions that form the basis of the region’s rich folklore.

The Misa Mestiza proposes a musical journey from Europe to Latin America, full of colors and soundscapes: from Gregorian chant, the motet, and European hymns to a palette of popular Latin American rhythms, including the habanera, Peruvian festejo, chacarera, triunfo, and chaya from Argentina, vals criollo, huayno from the Altiplano, Bolivian caporal, Uruguayan candombe, Venezuelan tonada llanera, Brazilian bossa nova, and Caribbean son.

From America, the Misa Mestiza invites the world to sing for peace and fraternity among peoples, following the universal message that Francis laid out in his encyclicals.

In 2025, following the passing of Pope Francis and to mark the tenth anniversary of its premiere, the composers incorporated a new movement: number VII, titled “Legacy” (“Legado”).

This final piece, written as a tribute, brings together in its text and music the essence of the Pontiff’s thought, inspired by fragments of the encyclical Laudato si’. It invites us to reflect on fraternity, the care of our common home, hope, and peace—values that guided his pontificate and continue to illuminate the spirit of the Misa Mestiza.

Praevaricatio 7

Praevaricatio 7 is a minimalist avant-garde artwork that explores human transgressions through a deeply sensory experience. Integrating live music, dance, spoken word, and visuals, it invites the audience into an emotional and reflective immersion—one that delves into the inner self, evoking profound sensations and forging a visceral connection with the stage.

The piece draws inspiration from the seven deadly sins and their opposites—not from religious dogma, but as transgressions inherent to the human condition.

Each scene unfolds a unique sensory experience through:

Body languages: Butoh dance, hybrid movements, contact improvisation, and more.

Vocal languages: Spoken word, sounds, and tonal expression.

Musical languages: Sonic layers, textures, and atmospheres.

Sensory languages: Lighting, imagery, scents, and tactile elements.

A guided improvisation unfolds within a narrative structure, incorporating scenic elements, sensory FX (aromas, lights, textures), and visual projections.

Performers: 3 dancers/actors – 3 musicians.
